Done and done.

First of all I feel the need to apologize for my lack of blogging these last few weeks. Exam prep took over my life for a short while, then my computer broke and now that I’m at home I’m just as busy as I was at school getting ready for Christmas! 8 days an counting….

Anyway… at the moment I’m so excited I can’t sleep! I finally submitted my exchange visa application today. I probably should have done it a month ago but it’s a bit ridiculous how much of a process it is (especially if you’re a bit of a procrastinator like myself). Beyond getting police clearance, x-rays, vaccines, flights and insurance, there’s a lot of paper work to do. The best advice I can give to potential future exchange students is to start early! All of that being said, the excitement has officially kicked in and everything feels like it’s coming together.

Here’s my game plan:

On January 19th I fly to Germany where me and my friend Megan will begin our 3 week backpacking adventure. I can’t even begin to tell you how stoked I am to be spending my 21st birthday in Italy! On the 6th of February we fly to Port Elizabeth, South Africa where we spend a semester (4 months) in school at Rhodes University. At the end of June, we fly into Uganda where we’ll spend the last month and a bit out of our trip working in an orphanage. It’s going to be so amazing and I’m feeling like the luckiest girl in the world at the moment. I’m not sure how interesting it is for all of you to be reading about my trip but maybe it will get you thinking about what your exchange at Bish could look like. An opportunity to do something like this doesn’t happen to everyone and it’s not always possible. The excitement in the planning alone has been fun, I can only imagine what the actually experience will be like. I’ll keep you posted.

Later Gaiters.
