Getting to Know Bishop’s – Meet Berenice Rodriguez

Getting to know your #Ubishops community is a must if you wish to fully immerse yourself into the BUbble! We decided to help you out by conducting monthly interviews with staff and faculty that contribute to the school’s success. We had the opportunity to talk to Berenice Rodriguez, Assistant to the Dean of Student Affairs.

The day I met the love of my life on the first day of classes (back in September 2005). We will celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary this summer. I will never forget that first moment.

Describe #Ubishops in three words.
Unique, inclusive, caring.

If you had to switch jobs with someone on campus, what would it be and why?
Very interesting question! I would probably switch jobs with someone who is more involved with international students; but… I love my job! I am so happy to be part of the Student Services team as I am surrounded by exceptional colleagues!

If you had to join a club or student group on campus, what would it be and why?
BUISA- International Student’s Association. I really enjoy being surrounded by international students as it reminds me when I was an exchange student myself here at BU. The BUISA became my family.

If you had to go back to school, which program would you pick and why?
I would go to Med School. When I was in high school I wanted to be a doctor but destiny took me somewhere else. However, had I chosen to be a doctor in my home country (Mexico) I would probably not be here in Canada. So no regrets.
