Living Learning Communities

Have a passion for sustainability, leadership, health, or making international connections? Bishop’s University’s Living Learning Communities are the place for you! Nestled into our residences, there are four different communities to choose from: the ECO Floor, the Leadership Community, the Health & Fitness Floor, and (new this year!) the International Connections Floor. Share experiences, have fun, and participate in ample opportunities for personal growth.

The Eco Floor

Do you care about your ecological footprint? Are you interested in educating others about environmental issues? Would you like to be challenged to live a more sustainable lifestyle? Then maybe you should be thinking about applying to the ECO FLOOR, one of Bishop’s Living Learning Communities. The ECO FLOOR was created for students with a passion for the environment and a love of nature, who wish to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Through a wide variety of activities, many of which are student-driven, the ECO FLOOR’s residents are equipped to make an impact on the Bishop’s campus and on the community at large. Students who participate in this community must be committed to their own development and participate in the program expectations outlined for this group. This is a great fit for anyone that would like to explore environmental issues, take on sustainable living challenges, organize events to create awareness, and so much more!

The Leadership Community

The Leadership Community is an opportunity for students to develop their leadership skills and to live within a community of like-minded, motivated individuals to better themselves and their surroundings. Being involved within this community gives one the opportunity to leap into extracurricular activities and Bishop’s life, through both campus wide events and specially planned workshops and programs hosted by a series of university staff and faculty. This community allows students to gain leadership skills through giving back to the community, getting enveloped on campus, and in residence, and partake in developmental activities and workshops to assist you with your future endeavours.

The Health and Fitness Floor

Are you an active person with a passion for a healthy lifestyle? Do you value taking care of your body as well as your mind? Would you like to live with like-minded individuals who share your passion for wellness? If you answered yes to these questions, then it sounds like this could be the community at Bishop’s you’ve been waiting for! This floor will animate its members to be active, make fitness and health a priority and give back to the community in a way that reflect the values of the floor. This is a great way to partake in activities that promote your well-being, while being able to form a community of people who are there to support you through your health and fitness journey!

The International Connections Floor (New!)

We couldn’t be more excited to offer the opportunity to create a community that fosters intercultural connections! Whether it be between incoming international students coming to Bishop’s University for an entire degree of studies or for a shorter-term student exchange from a partner university or local students with an interest in learning about other cultures and countries.

Local students living on this floor will be actively involved in making incoming international students feel at home in Canada, and learn about Bishop’s together. Developing intercultural and linguistic competencies, building international bridges of solidarity, and sharing different ways of knowing and being are part of the tremendous learning opportunities offered on this floor. For BU students wishing to participate in an international exchange program at a partner university during their studies, living on this floor is an excellent way to prepare!
