Montreal and Back

Yesterday, I had the chance to live the high life. My roommate invited me to go with him to pick up Dr. James Orbinski from Montreal. Dr. Orbinski, who is a past president of Doctors Without Boarders, was coming down to Bishop’s to give the final lecture of the inaugural Donald Lecture Series. All in all, it was a great opportunity. Not only did we get to meet him, but Brad and I also had the opportunity to have a discussion about North America’s current political situation (had I remembered that he is a professor of political studies as well as medicine, I might have picked a topic on which I stood a chance of seeming at all knowledgeable).  After arriving back in Lennoxville, we were invited over to the Principal’s house for a meet and great with alumni, students, faculty, and Dr. Orbinski. As you can expect with BU, it was a very personable crowd and a great way to lead into Dr. Orbinksi’s lecture on his experiences working as a doctor and a lobbyist for humanitarian causes around the world. All in all, it was an amazing opportunity and I am sure that I am not the only one that walked out of the lecture feeling that much more hopeful about the changes that we can all make if we just put our minds to it (I know that last sentence sounds pretty corny but it is true).
