Thalia Takes On October!

Hey there folks!

Well, it has certainly been a whirlwind since New Plays ended! Thanks for all of you who came out to support- it was such a great experience, I’m so thankful I got to be a part of it.
The day after New Plays ended I had a meeting with a special guest director in the department, Colin Taylor. He is a fantastic director who is directing one of the fall productions this year- The Orestes. It’s a really neat adaptation of a Greek play. I am lucky enough to be stage managing this show. Did I mention how excited I am? We open mid-November, so there is no time to spare but I love it! Colin is a phenomenal person to work with. That is one of the great things about the department here- not only do we have an incredibly talented and brilliant faculty (shout out to Dr.Harries!) but we also get to work with all sorts of guest artists that come in.
Recently, we had a very experienced and in my opinion, phenomenal movement coach, Rebecca Harper come in and do a workshop. The energy in the room after the workshop was unreal! I’m happy that I am in a place where I am so excited for class and rehearsal all the time. Sure, there is occasionally a lack of sleep, late-nights writing papers, but it’s all a learning experience. I’ll be sure to keep ya’ll updated on all the drama news to come, there is always plenty going on in the department! This show is going to be really special. Trust me- I saw the set designs the other day and it’s epic.
On a totally different note, happy belated Thanksgiving to all of you who were in Lennox for the weekend (and those who weren’t. I live in NB so it was kind of a far tip to make for the weekend, but I had a lovely Thanksgiving in the townships. Not only was it a great time to catch up on homework, but it was a nice time to really step back and just enjoy everyone’s company. A few of my friends and I decided to have a potluck on Sunday evening. It’s the little things like sharing a meal and a bottle of wine with good friends that remind me about what’s great in life. Baked brie, vegetarian stuffing, harvest vegetables and cheesecake- can’t get much better than that.
Good luck with all the midterms and exams
Until next time you beautiful people,
Thalia
