Catch up with our valedictorians: Natalie Nguyen ’22

They proudly represented their graduating class. But what happens after they walk the stage? In this series, we’re catching up with past #UBishops valedictorians to see where life has taken them since their big day. From her time at Bishop’s to her journey beyond, Natalie Nguyen, Class of 2022, shares where she is now, the highlights of travelling, and tips for current and graduating students.

Where are you now? What are you up to, and how is life going—professionally or personally?

I’m currently working as the Digital Marketing Manager for the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada. I recently travelled to Europe for the first time, and am looking forward to traveling to Central America and Asia over the next two years. I’m also searching for the perfect city to call home. In my down time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, journaling, reading, and watching Survivor.

How did your time at Bishop’s shape your career path or influence your journey?

The internships I completed as part of the co-op program built foundational marketing skills that I use daily and gave me perspective into multiple industries. Case competitions were an extremely valuable experience, teaching us strategic planning, business analysis, and team collaboration.

Do you have any tips or advice for current students?

For your time at Bishop’s:

Make the most out of every opportunity, relish the moments with your friends, don’t be afraid to try something on your own, and build genuine relationships.

Preparing to graduate:

Do some research into different industries and the roles that are currently available; the job market is intense. If you have a target position in mind, identify and build relevant skills based on the job description, and chat with people at companies you are interested in. Everyone can benefit from a CV workshop and interview practice!
