Getting to Know #Ubishops – Meet Dr. Claire Grogan

Getting to know your #Ubishops community is a must if you wish to fully immerse yourself into the BUbble! We decided to help you out by conducting monthly interviews with staff and faculty that contribute to the school’s success. This month we had the opportunity to talk to Dr. Claire Grogan, Professor in the English Department and Interim Dean of Arts and Science for Humanities and Social Science.

Dr. Claire Grogan

Favourite book of all-time?
It changes all the time, but for now, I love Hugh Howey’s Dust trilogy.

Favourite group or singer?
At the moment, Vampire Weekend.

Favourite movie of all-time?
Stardust with Claire Danes, Charlie Cox and Robert De Niro

Favourite spot on campus?
The Quad with its large pine trees!

Favourite spot off-campus?
Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley and the many country ski trails!

Favourite #Ubishops moment?
My favourite moment at Bishop’s is when Archbishop Desmond Tutu led the academic procession off the convocation stage dancing!

Describe #Ubishops in three words.
Friendly, Surprising, Creative.

If you had to switch jobs with someone on campus, what would it be and why?
The ITS department! I love their station in the LLC and I’d be happy driving the new electric cart. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t be able to offer any ITS assistance beyond the almost proverbial “Have you tried turning it off and on?”

If you had to join a club or student group on campus, what would it be and why?
Perhaps the Board Games club

If you had to go back to school, which program would you pick and why?
I’d love to be a student in the new Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems program. It sounds amazing!
